HOUSTON, TX—April 9, 2018—Beginning the weekend of April 6, 2018, Almeda-Genoa Constructors began the first closures in a series of total lane closures, scheduled to take place on various weekends over the spring and summer months. The total closures are needed to support multifaceted construction efforts of the SH 288 managed lanes construction project, Drive288. Specifically, AGC will be:

  1. Building new director connectors from IH 610 Eastbound to SH 288 Northbound, and from IH 610 Westbound to SH 288 Southbound;
  2. Demolishing existing direct connectors; and
  3. Shifting traffic lanes to utilize the newly constructed connectors, keeping traffic moving in all directions while simultaneously constructing additional direct connectors.

The total closures are slated for intermittent weekend dates between April and August 2018. This will provide contractors with safe and adequate space and time to complete scheduled work, while simultaneously minimizing traffic flow impacts during the work week for the commuting public. Drive288 is committed to keeping the community as informed as possible throughout the duration of this project. Interested parties can visit Drive288.com, subscribe to email updates or text message alerts, and follow the project on social media to find more information about the project and  information about upcoming lane closures or traffic alerts.

This project, which includes the Harris County section of SH 288, will add managed lanes and expansive new interchanges to a 10.3 mile stretch of roadway, from US 59 in the north to the Harris County/Brazoria County line at Clear Creek.
